Manages all Project HOPE’s accounting operations and financial systems. Provides timely and accurate actual financial data, including grant financial data to HOPE decision makers (including, but not limited to: CEO, Senior Vice President, International Operations, Associate Vice President, Vice President Development, Board of Directors, other Senior Managers) and to sponsoring agencies. Insures the integrity of financial information.
• Together with Senior Leadership team and CEO, define the financial model underlying the annual budget and strategic plans. Responsible for coordination and presentation of the annual budget.
• Generate high quality financial statements and forward-looking supporting financial analysis.
• Compiles and supervises preparation of monthly financials and management reports.
• Develop and maintain strong teams to ensure strong execution against organizational goals.
• Lead the continued improvement of the current financial planning and management tools and the capital and operating planning, budgeting and reporting processes both domestically and internationally.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the organization’s performance versus its mission, financial and risk objectives and “Best Practices” of high performing for profit and not for profit entities.
• Manages HOPE Investment portfolio along with AVP
• Responsible for financial policies – guiding others and updating as needed
• Supports Compliance Officer in Compliance policy creation and other initiatives
Ensuring Financial Accuracy
•Manages all the functions of HOPE’s accounting, grant accounting function, purchasing operations, and supervises their associated staff. This includes: Global Operations Accounting, Financial Accounting, Payroll, Time Accounting, Travel Expense Reporting, Purchasing and Accounts Payable.
• Responsible for liaison with HOPE’s independent accountants in the execution of the annual audits and preparation of HOPE’s IRS reports.
• Directs the continuous improvement efforts of financial operations including initiating and implementing computer system upgrades and enhancements.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
· BA/BS in Accounting required. Masters Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration is a plus. CPA required.
· Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in financial accounting in a not-for-profit or government contracting environment; plus a minimum of three years’ experience supervising the work of other accountants and/or budget analysts.
· Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), FASB 116 and 117.
· Understanding of and experience with federal financial compliance, contracting, and auditing requirements as detailed in OMB Circulars A-110, A-122, A-133, 22CFR226 as well as the relevant government counterparts is exceedingly helpful.
· Demonstrated ability to use large scale automated accounting systems, knowledge of QuickBooks a plus.
· Direct experience in performing and reviewing fund and account balance reconciliations as well as preparing and reviewing ledger entries, adjustments and accruals.
· Experience in preparing materials for and responding to end-of-year audits.
· Experience in creating or modifying accounting or reporting procedures and policies to ensure proper financial control and data integrity.
· Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Experience in preparing and/or reviewing financial statements, including variance analysis, as well as the ability to explain these to persons with little financial acumen.
· Ability to work well under pressure, organize and set priorities, meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral.
- Previous experience with an international non-governmental organization a plus.
